Falling Water: Recent Work by Kan Kit-Keung

Grotto Fine Art takes pleasure in presenting Falling Water: Recent Works by Kan Kit-keung the renowned artist's latest collection of works. In the last three years, Dr. Kan has created a new body of beautiful landscape paintings that combined his scientific research in logic and a keen observation of the natural world. Featuring over twenty new works and calligraphic installations, the exhibition displays the artist's mastery of techniques and classical repertoires and represents a new vision of modernism in Chinese landscape art.

Halley Cheng: Ghostliness

Halley Cheng: Ghostliness is a highly anticipated exhibition of one of Hong Kong 's best young artists. Featuring all new works from 2008, Cheng combines his traditional Chinese literati sentiment in groundbreaking compositions that pushes the boundary of conventional media. While landscape remains the focus of his collection, Cheng's imitation of ancient masterpieces provides another dimension to traditional landscape with an ingenious contemporary approach.

Hong Kong International Arts and Antiques Fair 08
Oct 4 - 7 , 2008 @ Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre

 

The Hong Kong International Arts and Antiques Fair ( HKIAAF 08 ), to be staged from 4 to 7 October 2008 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, will mark a new milestone in the exciting and robust Hong Kong art scene. Over 80 galleries from Asia, Europe and America will participate in this premier art fair which is expected to capture enormous interest from collectors, connoisseurs and dealers from around the world.HKIAAF is scheduled for the peak art season in Hong Kong, coinciding with Sotheby's Autumn Auctions to be held in the same venue. The fair is open free of charge to the general public from 11 am to 7pm each day.

While landscape predominates his collection, Wong's digital manipulation provides another dimension to traditional landscape with an ingenious interactive approach.

The Pivotal Decade
Hong Kong Art 1997 - 2007

Grotto Fine Art takes great pleasure in presenting The Pivotal Decade: Hong Kong Art 1997-2007 , a group exhibition of seven leading Hong Kong artists. Featuring works by HO Siukee, TSE yimon, Luke CHING, CHOW Chun-fai, TSANG Chui-mei, Wilson SHIEH and Joey LEUNG, this exhibition marks the first docu-thematic show of contemporary Hong Kong art in celebration of the 10 th anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Exhibition is co-presented by Chinese Arts Centre, Manchester. On view at the Hong Kong Arts Centre. 5/F The Pao Galleries, HK Arts Centre, 2 Harbour Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong.

 


Reflection, Revelation: New Works by Flora Fok & Sarah Lai
18 June to 5 July, 2008

 

This is the first two-women exhibition of Flora Fok and Sarah Lai. Both graduates of the Chinese University of Hong Kong , Fok and Lai are top graduates of their class and represent the gem of local talents. Featuring all new works in oil paintings, the exhibition brings forth the current art trend among young artists in Hong Kong in distinctively different approaches and styles.

Art HK 08: International Hong Kong Art Fair
14-18 May, 2008
For five days this May, Hong Kong will host many of the world's leading art galleries at the inaugural ART HK. An art fair of a scale never seen before in the city, ART HK 08 will take place at the landmark Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 14 ¡V 18 May.

Open to all, ART HK is a new annual art fair that welcomes established art collectors, new buyers looking to own their first piece and those just wanting to immerse themselves in the best of the world's 20th and 21st century art.

Angela Su: Paracelsus' Garden

Angela Su: Paracelsus' Garden is a highly anticipated exhibition of one of Hong Kong 's best woman artists. Featuring all new works in ink drawings and embroidery, Su combines her anatomical background with groundbreaking compositions in weaving together elements of alchemical and fantasy nature. Flowers, insects, and human figure are all part of her new collection and they present a personal response to the symbolic, iconic and figural self.

Fiona Wong . Earthy Wings

Fiona Wong Lai-ching: Earthy Wings is the first solo exhibition of the acclaimed Hong Kong sculptor at Grotto Fine Art since 2004. Featuring a new series of works inspired by amphibious creature and medieval fantasy, Wong strives to explore the cultural sensitivity of desire and fantasy and their significance in our modern day environment. The exhibition features two types of works: amphibious costumes and hand-built pottery.

Wilson Shieh: Ladyland

As a leading Hong Kong ink painter, Shieh's works are well known for their unique interpretations of important issues pertinent to the Hong Kong existence. On display will be the artist's newest collection of works based on a specific theme ¡V ladyland ¡V which takes form in three general expressions: symbolic, iconic and figural.

Hong Kong International Contemporary Art Fair 2007

The Fair provides a vibrant new platform for the contemporary art world in Asia and worldwide. The works by 17 Artists from Grotto will be featured in this inaugural Fair.

On Gossamer's Edge: Paper Cutout Drawings by Bovey Lee

Grotto Fine Art takes great pleasure in presenting Bovey Lee's one-woman exhibition. Lee is an artist with dual training in painting and digital art. Her new collection of paper cutout drawings explores the issues of identity and her own bicultural experiences as a Hong Kong Chinese living in America. Both positive and negative imageries in her drawings, formed by meticulous cutouts on a singular picture plane, express the artist's own feelings of displacement and tension.

CROSSINGS: an exhibition of conceptual art forms by William Lim

Grotto Fine Art takes great pleasure in presenting William Lim's one-man exhibition CROSSINGS. As a conceptual artist, Lim's works are well-known for their harmonious blend of architectural and fine art elements. On display are Lim's newest collection of two-dimensional and three-dimensional works featuring sculpture, installations and paintings. CROSSINGS takes part in two venues: Grotto will presents Lim's smaller pieces focusing on the contrasting forces of his career both as an architect and an artist while the pieces at the Hong Kong Arts Centre will feature a monumental piece on the artist's personal journey ¡V the east-west junction.
