Born in Hong Kong
in 1947, Eddie Lui Fung-ngar was educated in art and design at the University
of Hong Kong before winning the Urban Council Fine Arts Award in 1981.
For the past twenty years, Lui held numerous important posts in art
education and curatorship and, in 1997, he was given the Visual Arts
Achievement Award by the Hong Kong Visual Arts Society. The distinctive
style of Lui's painting and sculpture derives from the concept of birth
and rebirth as mother nature unfolds. Using the floral and natural world
as central themes, Lui's abstract and colorful compositions concern
nothing but the cycles of life, its beginning, maturity and end. (Background:
