An Alternative Antiquity, the artist's first one-man exhibition
after receiving his Master of Fine Arts degree at the Chinese University
of Hong Kong in 2000. After an enormously successful group show last
year, Wilson has become a leading young artist in Hong Kong with his
works among the most sought-after and collectable. Wilson Shieh:

Classical
antiques are the central motifs found in the new works of Hong Kong artist
Wilson Shieh ka-ho (b.1970). Shieh attempts to revitalize China's glorious
past through his meticulous depiction of ceramics, pottery and scholarly
objects. Yet, Shieh's homage to the past is beyond nostalgic. His signature
figures, function as the "players", turn classical motifs into
pictorial metaphors, thereby generate alternative meanings from a seemingly
orthodox painting tradition.
