“Place" not only refers to geographic regions but also represents the spaces we tread upon in our daily lives. Human life is always intertwined with the relationship with place as we seek to define ourselves through different people, events, things, and environments. Unconsciously, "I" and "Place" shape and transform each other, giving rise to a series of customs and conventions that construct the unique culture of a place, perhaps even becoming an unspoken history.

This exhibition takes you on a journey into a world that is both illusory and real, from the perspective of culture and nature. Through the various traces and clues within the artworks, it guides you to explore the imagination and relationship between individuals and our surrounding environments so that we can weave a network of connections between people, space, and geography together. It tells the stories of "I" speaking about "Place" and "Place" narrating the tale of “Us.”

Wenda Yiu graduated from BA in Fine Art at RMIT University( co-presented with Hong Kong Art School), major in painting.  Most of her artistic practice combines the historical and contemporary approach. By blurring the outline of the history, she tries to redefine the meaning of our culture. Wenda borrows motifs drawn from various materials and art forms to portray Hong Kong's alternative side , such as maps and illustrations. She attempts to reconnect people with Hong Kong's culture, history, nature and land through her artworks.

Wenda was awarded ‘Outstanding Artwork (Painting) ‘by Hong Kong Art School in2017.  She was selected as one of the finalists in ‘WMA Open Photo Contest Exhibition - Opportunity!’ , and received the Reaching Out Award from the Hong Kong Education Bureau in 2019. Wenda received an award from C&G Artpartment in 2020 and cooperated with organisation to    promote community art after graduation. Wenda showed her works at Art Basel, Fine Art Ink Asia and held a number of exhibitions in Hong Kong.
